Q. What is iSurf? A. It is a company which creates and maintains community portals or web sites for the enjoyment and use of the citizens of particular cities, towns and areas.
Q. What will I find on these community web sites? A. Contests, auctions, free classifieds, job listings, games, local news, videos, art galleries, picture galleries, interactive blogs, a dining guide, an estore and much, much more.
Q. How long has iSurf been in business? A. Homepage Inc., the parent company incorporated on November 14, 2006.
Q. How many iSurf cities are there right now? A. Approximately 600 from California to Maine and Saskatchewan, Canada to Florida, with a concentration in the southeast.
Q. How does iSurf get people to go to the sites? A. By offering a wide range of local content, innovations, contests and powerhouse partnerships with radio, internet tv and other proprietary technology firms. We also drive traffic with ad campaigns, direct mail and by using traditional media.
Q. How much does a license cost? A. It varies according to population, income and several other factors.
Q. How does an license owner make money? A. The owner is responsible for local sales (advertising packages and sponsorships) and retains 75% of everything sold. In addition, 50% of all national revenues are put into a pot and split between all the cities.
Q. If I buy a license what will happen if you sell the business? A. First, selling would mean that the buyer was positioned to help take us to the next level and that would increase the worth of your enterprise. Second, the buyer would still have to honor your contract.
Q. What costs will I incur besides the initial purchase price? A. Monthly hosting fees of $250 and whatever marketing you wish to do are your main costs. You may also decide to pay for salespeople to help you. How long will it typically take me to recoup my initial investment. It depends upon how much effort and marketing you put into it, but with reasonable effort, in 6-12 months.
